Group ClassesHatha and Hatha Flow YogaDay: Thursday weekly Classes are relaxed and personable with careful attention to anatomy, alignment, safety, and the student's personal needs. A typical class is comprised of breathing exercises, guided relaxation, asana (postures) and vinyasa (a series of flowing movement sequences co-ordinated with rhythmic breathing). Classes are inspired by some of the world's most renowned teachers in Yoga, somatic movement, embodied anatomy and developmental movement patterns. Classes range from gentle to energetic but every class and pose is tailored to the individual's level and range of movement. Specialist Back Care ClassDay: Thursday weekly Your back is designed to hold you up, keep you mobile, and allow you do all the things you love doing. Yet, 80% of adults suffer back-pain at some stage in their life. So, how can you get back on track and stay there? The key to lasting recovery is to address the root cause of your symptoms using a combination of physical movement, mental awareness, inner focus and breathing. Somatics for back-pain is clinically proven to be more effective and longer lasting than strength training, cardio and stretching based on physical therapy. Somatics builds flexibility, inner strength and self-awareness. As your body becomes more flexible, so does your thinking. As your muscles become stronger, so does your inner resilience. In learning to care for your back, you learn to care for yourself better in other areas of your life. These classes will explore practices to strengthen weak muscles, release tension, relieve pain, balance asymmetry, and build proprioceptive awareness. Learn the key skills you need to be at ease in your body, and come away with a personal practice tailored to you. Class numbers are limited and require a pre-screening so please contact Lisa directly at lisa@alignsomatics.com if you are interested. Also check out Yoga Journal's first article on Somatics at http://www.yogajournal.com/lifestyle/201?page=3. Advisory Note: Please consult your doctor first if you have an undiagnosed or new injury and are planning to attend the classes.
