Two Day Introductory Workshop

This two-day course is open to all. It is an opportunity for a student from any Yoga background or style to be introduced to this approach to Yoga. It is also a prerequisite to further work in the aYs Study and Training Programmes.

Aims:

  • to bring renewed awareness and understanding of how to apply yourself in the postures;
  • to give support and confidence so that you can practice on your own;
  • to reap the benefit of two days of yoga and deepen your appreciation of yoga in your life. 

Topics include:

  • Yoga practice; theory of postures; devising a practice to suit your needs.
  • Seated breathing and sound.
  • Yoga psychology:  the link between mind, body and breath.  Introduction to some key concepts from "The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali", an ancient teaching, as relevant today as ever. 
  • Introduction to meditation techniques.

Teacher:
Hanne Gillespie is the principle teacher on these study workshops but occasionally she is supported by teachers from the U.K.

Prerequisites:
One year's attendance at a group class or individual lessons

of any Yoga approach.

Duration:
A total of 12 hours on: two separate days; or one full weekend.

Certification:
The aYs Introductory Study Course "Certificate of Completion" will be given to students who have completed the two days.
